WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (TNSFR) -- The Kansas State Historical Society, Topeka, has completed an inventory of ancestral human remains and associated funerary objects, determining a cultural affiliation with three Native American tribes. This action, following the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, sets the stage for the repatriation of these items to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of the Cheyenne River Reservation, the Kaw Nation and the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 (TNSFR) -- The Kansas State Historical Society, Topeka, has completed its inventory of Native American human remains and associated funerary objects, finding a cultural connection to the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes. Conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the inventory identified the remains of 72 individuals and 23,270 objects.
