University of Arizona State Museum to Repatriate Funerary Objects Under Federal Law
WASHINGTON, March 17 (TNSFR) -- The University of Arizona State Museum is preparing to repatriate 108 cultural items identified as unassociated funerary objects after completing an inventory under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
According to a notice published by the U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service, the museum determined that the items were intentionally placed with or near human remains as part of death rites or ceremonies.
