Robert S. Peabody Institute Completes Inventory of Human Remains, Funerary Objects Affiliated With Wampanoag Tribes
WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 (TNSFR) -- The Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archaeology, Andover, Massachusetts, has completed an inventory of Native American human remains and thousands of associated funerary objects, establishing a cultural connection to the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). Sonoma State University to Repatriate Cultural Items to Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria
WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 (TNSFR) -- Sonoma State University has announced its intention to repatriate 3,121 lots of cultural items to the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, California. This significant transfer, conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, involves both sacred objects and unassociated funerary objects recovered from various sites across Sonoma County.
