SEYMOUR JOHNSON AFB, North Carolina, June 4 -- The U.S. Air Force Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (4th Fighter Wing) issued the following news: By Dr. Roy Heidicker At 2300 hours on 5 June 1944, Colonel Don Blakeslee briefed the 4th Fighter Group pilots on the D-Day operations the next day. Blakeslee emphasized it was going to be a long, tough day with the Group flying three sorties to support the invasion.
