WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 (TNSLrpt) -- The American Enterprise Institute issued 'Lower Credit-Report Costs Could Come at a Higher Price,' by Tobias Peter and Edward J. Pinto. Issued Sept. 9, 2026, the report argues that a Federal Housing Finance Agency move from three credit reports to two or one could reduce upfront mortgage costs but might encourage borrowers and lenders to select the most favorable score, weakening the relationship between credit scores and mortgage risk.
