Channel Islands National Park to Return Burial-Related Items to Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Mission Indians

WASHINGTON, April 10 (TNSFR) -- The Channel Islands National Park, Ventura, California, is preparing to repatriate 40 cultural items identified as unassociated funerary objects to the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Mission Indians, California, under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, following a determination of cultural affiliation.

The items include stone scrapers, stone bowls, a biface, pestle, shell ornaments and beads, bone tools, a plummet, a digging stick . . .
