WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 (TNSFR) -- The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum in Kansas intends to repatriate a sacred shield to the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma.
The shield was collected by Finlay Ross (1847-1933) and donated to the museum in 1939 by his widow, Ella Fuller Ross. Museum records link the item to the 1874 Anadarko Affair, also known as the Battle of the Wichita Agency, involving Comanche and Kiowa tribes, U.S. troops and civilians.
