WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (TNSFR) -- The Kansas State Historical Society, Topeka, intends to repatriate human remains and associated funerary objects to the Kaw Nation, Oklahoma, and Wichita and Affiliated Tribes.
KSHS identified remains representing four individuals of Native American ancestry from sites in Lyon, Barton and Rice counties, Kansas. The collections include 5,716 associated funerary objects, including animal bone, chipped stone, ceramics, burned earth, a catlinite pipestone . . .
