Michigan State University to Repatriate Cultural Items Recovered from 5 Counties

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (TNSFR) -- Michigan State University, Lansing, intends to repatriate 37 cultural items to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Michigan.
The items include one unassociated funerary object, a copper pike from Baraga County, and 36 sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony. The latter include pipes, a copper axe and adze, stone tools, lithics and other objects from locations across Michigan, including Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, Marquette and Ontonagon countie . . .
