Indianapolis Museum of Art to Repatriate Moccasins to Cheyenne, Arapaho Tribes

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 (TNSFR) -- The Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana, at Newfields intends to repatriate a pair of moccasins to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Oklahoma.

According to the National Park Service notice, the moccasins were obtained by Valette Miller White in Montana before 1936. The museum determined the pair is an object of cultural patrimony with ongoing historical, traditional or cultural importance central to the Native American group.
