Army to Repatriate Human Remains to 1 of 2 Oregon Tribes

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Army is repatriating human remains representing one Native American individual to the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.

According to the National Park Service notice, records indicate the remains of a young woman may have been removed during construction of the Fort Vancouver barracks in 1915. Portions of the barracks overlapped the original Hudson's Bay Company cemetery. The remains . . .
