WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 (TNSLrpt) -- The U.S. Geological Survey issued Open-File Report 2026-1029, 'Estimating Aftershock Risk for Entry into Earthquake-Damaged Buildings,' by Jeanne L. Hardebeck and Alan Poulos. The 10-page report, approved for publication Aug. 26, 2026, provides a method for estimating how long responders, inspectors and others may wait after an earthquake before the probability of strong aftershock shaking during entry into a damaged building falls below a selected risk . . .
