Mississippi Dept. of Archives & History to Repatriate Funerary Objects to 1 of 3 Native American Tribes in Oklahoma

WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 (TNSFR) -- The Mississippi Department of Archives and History, Jackson, intends to repatriate two lots of unassociated funerary objects to the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the Choctaw Nation.

According to a notice published by the U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service, the materials consist of lithics recovered from archaeological sites 22WI500, Nanih Waiya, and 22NE632, Nanih Waiya Cave. One collection was . . .
