WASHINGTON, July 28 (TNSLrpt) -- The U.S. Geological Survey issued 'Coal Beneath Federal Lands in the United States--Mines, Reserves, and Resources,' authored by Brian N. Shaffer, Michelle N. Johnston, and Scott A. Kinney, as Circular 1570 in 2026.
USGS says 34 coal mines operated on Federal lands in 2024, mostly west of the Mississippi River. Those mines produced 261,690,308 short tons of coal and held more than 4.2 billion short tons of reported reserves beneath Federal . . .
