URBANA, Illinois, July 2 -- The University of Illinois System issued the following statement on July 1, 2026, by President Tim Killeen regarding the Illinois fiscal 2027 budget:

I'm pleased to report that the Illinois General Assembly has approved and Gov. JB Pritzker has signed a state budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The spending plan includes a 1% increase in general operating support for the U of I System and other public universities.
