FAA Proposes Water Leak Inspections for Boeing 747-400 Freighters

WASHINGTON, July 1 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking that would adopt an airworthiness directive for some The Boeing Company Model 747-400 series airplanes, requiring repetitive inspections of potable water and waste water systems to prevent leaks from reaching the electrical equipment bay.

The agency said water intrusion could affect equipment needed for safe flight and landing.
