WASHINGTON, June 19 -- Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Massachusetts, issued the following statement on President Trump's memorandum of understanding with Iran:

"The United States had a nuclear deal with Iran in 2015, and it was working. President Trump abandoned it in 2018 for no good reason. Only then did Iran start to build up its stocks of highly enriched uranium, which Trump used as an excuse to take the nation to war. That war was a disaster, built on lie . . .
