WASHINGTON, June 18 -- The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries released the following written testimony by marine ecologist and fisheries scientist Alan M. Friedlander from a June 3, 2026, hearing on legislation to amend the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to provide for the regulation of fishing in marine national monuments (H.R. 8904). Friedlander is also the former chief scientist of National Geographic Pristine Seas.
