WASHINGTON, June 12 -- North Carolina experienced a sharp rise in homelessness in 2024, with the latest Point-in-Time count showing 11,626 people experiencing homelessness on a single January night, up from 9,754 in 2023. The increase of 1,872 people represents a 19% year-over-year jump, closely matching the national increase of 18%.
