WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule updating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 301, Fuel System Integrity, by removing provisions that applied only to vehicles manufactured in prior years. The rule takes effect on July 6, 2026, and petitions for reconsideration must be submitted by July 20, 2026.
