WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule updating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 222, School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection, by removing provisions that no longer apply to vehicles currently in operation or production. The rule becomes effective on July 6, 2026, and petitions for reconsideration must be received by July 20, 2026.
