WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule eliminating outdated requirements from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 217, which governs bus emergency exits, window retention and release. The agency said the change removes provisions that applied only to school buses manufactured before Sept. 1, 1994, while leaving current safety requirements unchanged.
