WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule removing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 216, an older roof crush resistance standard that has been superseded by a more advanced federal requirement. The agency said the action is intended to streamline federal motor vehicle regulations by eliminating obsolete text while maintaining all existing safety protections for vehicle occupants.
