WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule removing an obsolete provision from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 207, Seating Systems, concluding that the requirement applies only to school buses manufactured before Oct. 21, 2011, and no longer serves a practical regulatory purpose. The rule takes effect on July 6, 2026, and petitions for reconsideration must be received by July 20, 2026.
