WASHINGTON, June 4 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule removing an outdated provision from the federal safety standard governing vehicle door locks and door retention systems, saying the requirement is redundant and no longer needed within current regulations. The change takes effect on July 6, 2026, and petitions for reconsideration must be submitted by July 20, 2026.
