WASHINGTON, June 4 -- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the launch of free universal childcare applications for two-year-olds in five selected school districts during an appearance on WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show. Appearing on the radio program from New York, Mamdani explained that the 2,000 available slots in Upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens mark the first step toward providing free childcare for every two-year-old within four years.
