DOT FAA Issues ATR72 Maintenance Directive Over Fuel Tank Explosion Risk

WASHINGTON, May 27 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration adopted a final airworthiness directive requiring operators of some ATR-GIE Avions de Transport Regional ATR72 airplanes to revise maintenance and inspection programs to include tighter airworthiness limitations aimed at preventing ignition sources inside fuel tanks. The directive becomes effective July 1, 2026, and applies to ATR72-101, -102, -201, -202, -211, -212 and -212A airplanes with origin . . .
