Federal Register: Interior Dept. Office of Civil Rights Issues Final Rule Rescinding Title VI Regulations to Align With Statutory Text and Executive Order 14281

WASHINGTON, May 22 (TNSFR) -- The Department of the Interior amends its regulations implementing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to eliminate disparate-impact liability. These amendments align the conduct prohibited by the Department's regulations with Title VI's original public meaning, avoid constitutional concerns, reduce compliance costs, and serve the public interest. In addition, these revisions implement changes directed in Executive Order 14281.
