WASHINGTON, May 21 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Education has finalized a major overhaul of federal Pell Grant regulations that will expand grant eligibility to certain short-term workforce training programs while also imposing new restrictions on students whose educational costs are already fully covered by non-federal aid. The final rule, published May 19, 2026, implements provisions of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4, 2025.
