WASHINGTON, May 20 -- Chris Hamilton, president of the West Virginia Coal Association, said federal actions during the past 15 months have strengthened support for coal mining, transportation, exports, generating capacity, and fuel security across the U.S.

Hamilton said a March executive order directing the Department of War to use coal-fired electricity at military bases reflected the administration's position that energy security and national security are closely linked.
