With her meticulous study of war criminals and genocide perpetrators, Alette Smeulers receives a lot of attention. In her book Terrifyingly normal, she gives a typology of perpetrators. She wrote it emphatically as a warning to us. That's the most dangerous idea: that you couldn't be a perpetrator yourself.
