WASHINGTON, April 3 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Justice filed a proposal to modify a 2014 consent decree with the Columbia, South Carolina, to address ongoing Clean Water Act violations. This proposal seeks to adjust the legal framework governing the city's sanitary sewer system and wastewater treatment plant.

The original agreement required the city to finish remedial projects and implement a capacity assurance program to stop sanitary sewer overflows.
