Denver Art Museum Repatriates Sacred Hawaiian Objects to Hui Iwi Kuamo'o

WASHINGTON, March 28 (TNSFR) -- The Denver Art Museum, Colorado, is repatriating 18 sacred objects to the Hui Iwi Kuamo'o under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The objects include two wood bowls, 10 barkcloth, a drum, two stone tools, feather lei, pendant necklace and mat. These items are used in ceremonial practice by present-day Native Hawaiian religious leaders and are considered sacred objects according to traditional knowledge.
