WASHINGTON, March 19 (TNSrep) -- Harvard University Medical School researchers have identified the thymus as a critical factor in human longevity and the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy. While the chest organ was previously thought to become inactive after puberty, data from 27,000 adults indicates that a healthy thymus correlates with a 50 percent lower risk of premature death and reduced risks of cardiovascular disease.
