WASHINGTON, March 4 (TNSFR) -- The Wisconsin Historical Society, Madison, intends to repatriate a presentation pipe described as both a sacred object and an object of cultural patrimony under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
According to a notice issued through the National Park Service, the society determined the pipe meets the definition of a ceremonial object needed for present-day religious practice and holds ongoing historical and cultural importance . . .
