NEW YORK, Feb. 18 -- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed a certificate of incorporation to establish the Coney Island Business Improvement District during a ceremony held on the Coney Island boardwalk on Feb. 16, 2026. The mayor announced that the district will provide an initial $1 million investment to support small businesses through supplemental sanitation, beautification and marketing efforts.
