WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 -- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the opening of the Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center in East Flatbush on Feb. 9, 2026. Speaking at the facility, Mamdani highlighted the $141 million project as the first citywide recreation center built in 15 years and a tribute to the legacy of the first Black woman to serve in Congress.
