Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences Intends to Repatriate Medicine Face Masks to Seneca Nation of Indians

WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 (TNSFR) -- The Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences, New York, intends to repatriate 37 sacred objects to the Seneca Nation of Indians. The museum determined that these specific ceremonial items are needed by traditional Native American religious leaders for the practice of traditional religion by present-day adherents.

The items identified for return are Medicine Face Masks, consisting of 30 wooden faces and seven cornhusk faces. These objects entered the museum . . .
