WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 (TNSFR) -- Indiana University has announced plans to return eight sacred cultural items to Hui Iwi Kuamo'o. This decision follows the guidelines set by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
The collection includes four Leis, one 'Eke (bag), one Umeke (bowl), one Pa (platter), and one Pu (conch shell). Records indicate that most of these items were acquired by the university in 1966, while the Pu was added to the collection in 2003. . . .
