WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 -- The U.S. Space Systems Command issued the following news release:

U. S. Space Force Field Commands successfully launch GPS III Space Vehicle 09 into orbit

The Space Force launched a Lockheed Martin-built Global Positioning System (GPS) III satellite, named in honor of NASA astronaut Col. Ellison Onizuka, into orbit on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.
