USDA Trims 2025/26 U.S. Rice Output on Area Contraction Despite Yield Gains

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 (TNSLrpt) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service has issued Rice Outlook: January 2026 (RCS-26A), coordinated by Vida Abadam with contributions from Andrew Sowell and Jennifer Bond and approved by USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board, lowering 2025/26 all-rice production 0.6 million hundredweight to 206.7 million cwt as reduced harvested area to 2.740 million acres offsets a 38 pounds-per-acre yield rise to 7,544 pounds.
