WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a proposed rule on January 7, 2026, aimed at ensuring aircraft safety as the nation expands wireless broadband access. The proposal requires aircraft operating in the contiguous U.S. to be equipped with next-generation radio altimeters capable of withstanding interference from high-powered wireless signals.
