University of Alabama Museums to Repatriate Ancestral Remains From Moundville to Various Tribal Nations

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (TNSFR) -- The University of Alabama Museums, Tuscaloosa, has completed an inventory of Native American human remains and determined that they are culturally affiliated with multiple Tribal Nations in the southeastern United States, clearing the way for repatriation under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. The determination concerns ancestral remains recovered from shoreline erosion at the Moundville site along the Black Warrior River in Alabama.
