WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has released a notice bypassing dozens of federal laws to speed up the construction of barriers and roads along the Texas border.
The determination allows the agency to skip requirements from the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act. These legal bypasses aim to accelerate the installation of fencing, lighting, cameras and sensors near the Rio Grande River.
