WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 -- The Extreme Event Solutions group at Verisk, Boston, Massachusetts, a global data analytics and technology provider, estimates that industry insured losses to onshore property in Jamaica from Hurricane Melissa will likely range from $2.2 billion to $4.2 billion.
The estimate covers damage from both wind and precipitation-induced flood along Melissa's path across the island, with the majority of the projected losses attributable to wind damage.
