WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service is lowering the user fee for tax return preparers to apply for or renew a preparer tax identification number (PTIN). Interim final regulations contained in a document reduce the user fee from $11 to $10, an amount that affects individuals who must apply for or renew a PTIN.
