WASHINGTON, Sept. 3 (TNSFR) -- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced a proposed safety mandate for 650 Airbus helicopters in the United States, targeting a structural flaw that could cause the vertical fin to detach in flight, leading to a loss of control.

The notice of proposed rulemaking affects all Airbus Helicopters AS355 models and certain AS 350B3 helicopters. It would supersede a 2021 Airworthiness Directive (AD) that required repetitive inspections after cracks . . .
