APHIS Halts Environmental Reviews for Genetically Engineered Organisms

WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has withdrawn its plans to prepare environmental impact statements for two petitions involving genetically engineered organisms. The decision is a direct consequence of a program update issued by APHIS on July 9, 2025.

The agency will no longer conduct an environmental analysis as part of its review for petitions seeking nonregulated status for genetically engineered organism . . .
