Fish & Wildlife Service: Borneo Earless Monitor Gains Protections

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (TNSFR) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service is moving to classify the Borneo earless monitor as a threatened species, a move that would provide protections under the Endangered Species Act. A proposed rule, published yesterday, outlines the rationale for the designation and includes a specific regulation to aid in the animal's preservation.

Found only on the island of Borneo, the monitor lizard is described as a shy, semi-aquatic . . .
