Sonoma State University Completes Inventory, Prepares to Repatriate Items to Tejon Indian Tribe

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (TNSFR) -- Sonoma State University has finished a key inventory of 985 funerary objects and has determined a cultural connection between these items and the Tejon Indian Tribe. This work, which completes the inventory process under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), is a step toward returning the items to the tribe.

The collection, which includes flaked stone tools, shells and beads, was collected over several decades from sites . . .
